Our client, a highly established organization in Edmonton, has been serving the community for over 60 years. This reputable company continues to grow and thrive, seeking a skilled Payroll Manager to join their team.
Job DescriptionThe Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of accurate, timely, and precise payroll results for the organization, which employs over 2000 employees. This role involves managing a small team of Payroll members, monitoring and overseeing payroll functions, and ensuring error-free payroll processing every cycle. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in payroll, experience working with HRIS systems, and be accustomed to complex and fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate salary payments, benefits, and deductions, T4s, year-end reconciliations, and Records of Employment.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to payroll and taxes.
- Ensure accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
- Prepare and distribute income statements and other payroll-related reports.
- Coordinate system upgrades, changes, or challenges with technical teams.
- Supervise and coach payroll staff, providing training and support as needed.
- Resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies.
- Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Liaise with auditors for payroll tax audits and ensure all documentation is in order.
- Identify and implement best practices to improve payroll.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in full-cycle payroll, preferably with a large volume environment.
- Three years' supervisory experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Thorough understanding of payroll-related principles, procedures, legislation, and regulations.
- Knowledge of HRIS systems is an asset.
Benefits
