Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various departments to weave Indigenization, equity, diversity, and accessibility principles into all college operations.
- Engage with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and student organizations to nurture an inclusive culture that fosters respect and participation.
- Serve as a primary liaison with programs and departments, partnering to promote and advocate for inclusive practices.
- Contribute to the college's vision and mission by supporting the aspirations and needs of learners.
- Encourage a positive work environment through professional interactions that reflect mutual respect.
Strategic Development
- Assist in creating and executing initiatives aimed at decolonizing college practices and systems.
- Lead the design and implementation of programs that align with CNC's equity, diversity, and inclusion action plan.
- Identify and address systemic barriers impacting employees and learners, focusing on Indigenization and accessibility.
- Work with leadership to ensure policies are aligned with best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Integration and Facilitation
- Support the incorporation of equity, diversity, and accessibility practices into academic curricula and administrative functions.
- Partner with Human Resources to implement inclusive recruitment and hiring processes.
- Act as a facilitator and educator, collaborating with all college sectors to foster inclusive practices.
Community Engagement
- Collaborate with Indigenous communities to build respectful and mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Work with stakeholders to create opportunities that enhance student success and well-being.
- Assist in developing communication materials that showcase the college's efforts in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Leadership and Management
- Guide the equity, diversity, and inclusion team, promoting a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Oversee daily operations of equity, diversity, and inclusion activities to ensure alignment with institutional objectives.
Continuous Improvement
- Help establish an evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Stay updated on relevant literature and legal frameworks to enhance the college's programs and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, human resources, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in an equity, diversity, and inclusion role, preferably in an educational context.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic diversity and inclusion plans.
- Strong skills in crisis management and conflict resolution.
- Excellent analytical abilities and experience with data management.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a unionized environment.
