Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with various departments to weave Indigenization, equity, diversity, and accessibility principles into all college operations.
  2. Engage with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and student organizations to nurture an inclusive culture that fosters respect and participation.
  3. Serve as a primary liaison with programs and departments, partnering to promote and advocate for inclusive practices.
  4. Contribute to the college's vision and mission by supporting the aspirations and needs of learners.
  5. Encourage a positive work environment through professional interactions that reflect mutual respect.

Strategic Development

  1. Assist in creating and executing initiatives aimed at decolonizing college practices and systems.
  2. Lead the design and implementation of programs that align with CNC's equity, diversity, and inclusion action plan.
  3. Identify and address systemic barriers impacting employees and learners, focusing on Indigenization and accessibility.
  4. Work with leadership to ensure policies are aligned with best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Integration and Facilitation

  1. Support the incorporation of equity, diversity, and accessibility practices into academic curricula and administrative functions.
  2. Partner with Human Resources to implement inclusive recruitment and hiring processes.
  3. Act as a facilitator and educator, collaborating with all college sectors to foster inclusive practices.

Community Engagement

  1. Collaborate with Indigenous communities to build respectful and mutually beneficial partnerships.
  2. Work with stakeholders to create opportunities that enhance student success and well-being.
  3. Assist in developing communication materials that showcase the college's efforts in equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Leadership and Management

  1. Guide the equity, diversity, and inclusion team, promoting a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
  2. Oversee daily operations of equity, diversity, and inclusion activities to ensure alignment with institutional objectives.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Help establish an evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
  2. Stay updated on relevant literature and legal frameworks to enhance the college's programs and policies.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, human resources, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of five years of experience in an equity, diversity, and inclusion role, preferably in an educational context.
  3. Proven ability to develop and implement strategic diversity and inclusion plans.
  4. Strong skills in crisis management and conflict resolution.
  5. Excellent analytical abilities and experience with data management.
  6. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  7. Demonstrated leadership experience in a unionized environment.
