About the Role

The College of New Caledonia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Manager, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. This role will play a critical part in promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect within the college community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Initiatives and College Planning
    • Develop and implement complex initiatives to decolonize college practices and systems.
    • Lead the development and implementation of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and programs that support the college's EDIB Action Plan and align with the college's mission and values.
    • Identify systemic barriers affecting employees and learners, with a focus on Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility, and actively engage others in collaborative efforts to address these barriers.
    • Collaborate with the Vice President, Indigenization to ensure policies and practices align with best practices in Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility.
  • Facilitation and Integration
    • Facilitate and support the integration of Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility practices into curricula, teaching, and administrative processes.
    • In collaboration with the Human Resources department and operational leaders, implement inclusive practices for recruitment, selection, interviewing, and hiring processes.
    • Act as a catalyst, advisor, collaborator, and educator, working with all college departments, services, and programs to develop partnerships and adopt inclusive practices.
  • Collaboration, Engagement, and Training
    • Actively participate in and/or chair college committees related to Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility, as appropriate.
    • Identify and implement educational programs and workshops for college leadership, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Community Engagement and Partnerships
    • Collaborate with the Vice President, Indigenization to engage with Indigenous communities, emphasizing respect and mutual benefit, and support the development of meaningful partnerships.
    • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop processes and opportunities that promote student success and well-being.
    • Assist in the development of communication materials, including reports and promotional content, to highlight the college's Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility efforts.
  • Resource Management
    • Provide direction and support to the EDIB team, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and professional development.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of EDIB activities, ensuring they are aligned with institutional goals and objectives.
  • Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
    • Assist in developing an evaluation framework and the collection and analysis of data to assess the impact of Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement.
    • Stay informed on current literature, legal, and legislative frameworks related to Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility, and apply this knowledge to enhance the college's programs and policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, human resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an EDIB role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans and programs related to diversity and inclusion.
  • Skilled in crisis management and conflict resolution, with the ability to manage sensitive discussions and navigate complex situations.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data management and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership ability in a unionized setting.
