Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President of Indigenization (VPI), the Manager of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) will oversee the execution of the College's EDIB, accessibility, and Indigenization initiatives. This role is pivotal in supporting CNC's commitment to a safe and diverse educational environment and workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
Key Functions
- Collaborate across various departments to embed Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility principles into all college operations.
- Engage with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and student organizations to cultivate an inclusive culture that encourages respect and participation.
- Serve as a primary contact for programs and departments, partnering to promote and guide inclusive practices.
- Contribute to the realization of the College's vision, mission, and objectives while addressing the aspirations and needs of learners.
- Foster a positive work environment through professional interactions that reflect mutual respect among students and colleagues.
Strategic Development and Planning
- Assist in the creation and execution of initiatives aimed at decolonizing college practices and systems.
- Lead the formulation and implementation of EDIB programs that align with CNC's EDIB Action Plan and the College's core values.
- Identify systemic barriers impacting employees and learners, focusing on Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility, and engage collaboratively to address these challenges.
- Work with the VPI to ensure policies and practices are in line with best practices in Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility.
Integration and Facilitation
- Support the incorporation of Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility practices into curricula and administrative processes.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and operational leaders to implement inclusive recruitment and hiring practices.
- Act as a facilitator, advisor, and educator, working with all college departments to foster partnerships and promote inclusive practices.
Engagement and Training
- Participate in and/or lead college committees focused on Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility.
- Develop and implement educational programs and workshops for college leadership, faculty, staff, and students.
Community Collaboration and Partnerships
- Engage with Indigenous communities in collaboration with the VPI, emphasizing respect and mutual benefit to build meaningful partnerships.
- Partner with stakeholders to create processes and opportunities that enhance student success and well-being.
- Assist in crafting communication materials, including reports and promotional content, to showcase the college's efforts in Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility.
Resource Management
- Guide and support the EDIB team, promoting a culture of respect, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Oversee daily operations of EDIB activities, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Help develop an evaluation framework and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility initiatives, ensuring ongoing improvement.
- Stay updated on current literature and legal frameworks related to Indigenization, EDIB, and accessibility, applying this knowledge to enhance the college's programs and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, human resources, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in an EDIB role, preferably within an educational context.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and programs related to diversity and inclusion.
- Expertise in crisis management and conflict resolution, with a capacity to navigate sensitive discussions.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data management and reporting.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a unionized environment.
