Key Responsibilities:
Leadership Duties
  1. Manage the overall operations of the processing department, making informed decisions and taking appropriate actions.
  2. Oversee the recruitment, screening, interviewing, and onboarding processes for all merchandise team members.
  3. Educate merchandise team members on the sorting, inspecting, grading, and rolling of all merchandise, among other responsibilities.
  4. Actively participate as a vital member of the management team by providing support, attending meetings, and sharing relevant information.
Employee Relations
  1. Guide the merchandise processing team on company policies and procedures.
  2. Identify and report policy violations to the General Manager and Human Resources, participating in all performance management discussions.
  3. Conduct ongoing performance evaluations in alignment with established goals.
  4. Assist in the rollout of employee recognition initiatives and events.
Health and Safety
  1. Ensure the merchandise department is maintained in an organized and clean manner, adhering to company housekeeping standards.
  2. Implement precautionary measures and follow company protocols to prevent theft, taking necessary actions when incidents occur.
  3. Provide a safe working environment by identifying and eliminating hazards, reporting them to the General Manager and Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  4. Manage workplace incidents, ensuring timely completion and submission of documentation while informing the General Manager and Human Resources.
  5. Serve as Co-Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Departmental Responsibilities
  1. Conduct regular floor inspections to assess priorities and delegate tasks to team members during morning meetings and throughout the day.
  2. Coordinate the merchandise processing team's efforts to ensure a timely flow of merchandise to the sales floor while maintaining inventory levels.
  3. Analyze and document daily merchandise processing metrics, including soft and hard pounds received and processed.
  4. Communicate goals and updates to the merchandise team throughout the shift.
  5. Develop, create, and implement weekly schedules for the merchandise department.
  6. Ensure accurate and timely completion of administrative tasks.
  7. Guide the merchandise department in preparing for and executing sale events.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Maintain professionalism in communications with peers, managers, customers, and clients.
  2. Collaborate with store management to ensure cohesive operations and production efforts toward shared objectives, which may involve shared responsibilities between departments.
  3. Understand the proper procedures for opening and closing the store.
  4. Troubleshoot technical issues with POS systems, pricing computers, and other office equipment.
  5. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Qualifications:
  1. 4+ years of experience in a retail warehouse setting.
  2. 3+ years of managerial experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  3. Previous experience in a thrift retail setting is considered an asset.

  6. Performance Oversight - Establish clear expectations for job assignments and monitor employee performance, providing constructive feedback and coaching for future development.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  2. Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
  3. Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs without assistance throughout the shift.
  4. Ability to push and pull merchandise containers on wheels weighing up to 500lbs.
Work Environment:
  1. Exposure to dust throughout the designated shift.
  2. Exposure to occasional temperature fluctuations and varying noise levels.
  3. Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  4. Engagement with customers, clients, and the general public.
