About Wright Canada Holdings Ltd:

Job Summary: As a Wildland Fire Crew Leader with Wright Canada Holdings Ltd, you will oversee and guide a team of firefighters in combating wildfires. Your responsibilities will include ensuring crew safety, coordinating communications, and effectively containing and extinguishing fires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a 5-person fire crew, ensuring safety and providing guidance and direction.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for extinguishing residual fires and preventing reignition.
  • Operate and maintain trucks and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Support and promote a safety culture within the team, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Hold fire suppression and safety certifications, such as OFA Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement.
  • Have experience as a Crew Leader or firefighter, with a strong understanding of wildland fire management principles.
  • Meet physical fitness test compliance requirements, ensuring the ability to perform duties in a physically demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hold certifications in OFA Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement, Chainsaw Operator, and Wildfire Safety.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Hold a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record.
  • Be able to adapt to changing conditions and priorities, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
  • Exhibit strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess physical strength and endurance, with the ability to lift heavy objects and work in challenging environments.

Environmental and Physical Activity Requirements: Work in varying weather conditions and challenging terrains, with exposure to dust, smoke, and other environmental hazards.

Living Conditions: Work in remote locations, with shared accommodations and limited access to amenities.
