BACKPACK HERBICIDE APPLICATOR POSITION
Wright Canada Holdings Ltd is in search of skilled herbicide applicators for our utility herbicide application season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct both broadcast and selective treatments for rapidly growing tree species within powerline right-of-ways.
- Actively engage in Wright's safety protocols, attend safety meetings, and complete necessary training.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain and care for your equipment responsibly.
- Follow the guidance of your supervisor diligently.
- Mark flagged boundaries and riparian zones accurately.
- Monitor and wait for optimal weather conditions for application.
- Work assignments will be distributed by the client across a broad geographic area, necessitating frequent travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Physical capability to thrive in a demanding work environment.
- Ability to carry loads exceeding 50 pounds.
- Proficient in the repetitive use of pumping and spraying equipment.
- Ability to navigate rapidly over uneven terrain and debris.
- Strong teamwork skills as well as the ability to work independently.
- Quick adaptability to changing work conditions.
- Effective decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to work and live in remote locations.
- Preparedness for all weather conditions.
- Commitment to completing projects, as mid-season replacements can be challenging.
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a willingness to contribute to team success.
What to Expect:
- Work schedule will be dependent on weather conditions.
- Compensation at a rate of $27.50 per pack or a fair hourly equivalent as necessary.
- Opportunities for training and mentorship.
- Hotel accommodations with kitchenettes provided where possible.
- Experience working with UTVs in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
- Supervision by experienced Crew Leaders and Supervisors, with drivers trained through an in-house resource road driver training program.
- A proactive approach to safety and injury prevention is essential.
What to Bring:
- Rubber caulked boots (specifics will be provided).
- Clothing suitable for all weather conditions (safety coveralls will be supplied).
- A wide-brimmed hat.
- A knapsack for personal items.
- A lunch kit for meals.
- Drinking water (minimum of 2 liters per day).
- Insect repellent.
- Personal hygiene items.
- Sunscreen for skin protection.
