Job Summary:
Wright Canada Holdings Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Broadcast Crew Leader to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supervising the broadcast treatment of all vegetation within designated areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of broadcast treatment crews to ensure efficient and effective completion of tasks.
- Communicate departmental policies, plans, and procedures to crew members and ensure compliance.
- Conduct safety training and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
- Document hazard assessments, inspections, and morning meetings to maintain accurate records.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and professional completion of tasks with minimal disruption to client operations.
- Train and coach crew members to improve performance and provide feedback as necessary.
- Organize logistics, navigate resource roads, and gain access to remote worksites.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain large/heavy trucks with trailers and off-road vehicles.
- Work with helicopters and maintain spray packs and equipment.
- Maintain inventory for chemicals and other herbicide application accessories.
- Assist in filling sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, in accordance with regulations and label directions.
- Identify and mark site boundaries and riparian areas.
- Perform payroll and data entry tasks.
- Monitor and record weather conditions and wait for ideal weather conditions.
- Follow the direction of the project manager and work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Experience managing crews in a forestry context and/or experience working with herbicide application.
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to handle stressful situations and multitask.
- Valid driver's license and experience driving and maintaining large vehicles.
- Negative drug screen result(s) and valid first-aid certification.
- Competency with Avenza PDF Maps, Excel, and mobile apps.
- Map reading skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions.
- Decision-making skills and willingness to work in a remote setting.
- Ability to walk rapidly over debris on uneven terrain and carry 50+ pounds.
- Commitment to a minimum of 8 weeks and a good work ethic.
