The Native American and Indigenous Studies Association is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in wildland fire science, particularly in relation to forest ecology and management.

Research Focus: The ideal candidate will possess expertise in areas such as:

  • Fire weather and fuel moisture dynamics
  • Forest fire behavior and modeling
  • Fire history and ecology
  • Interactions of disturbances
  • Wildfire risk and hazard assessment
  • Fire suppression techniques
  • Fuel reduction strategies
  • Indigenous fire practices, especially in boreal and montane ecosystems

We are particularly interested in candidates who can establish a robust, externally funded research program that addresses various aspects of wildland fire science and ecology. A Ph.D. in relevant fields such as wildland fire science, forest science, ecological restoration, or a closely related discipline is required.
