About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and physically fit individual to join our team as a Backpack Broadcast Sprayer. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for broadcasting treatment of vegetation within designated areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Broadcast treatment of all vegetation within a designated area
- Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Maintain the spray pack, keep the nozzle out of the dirt and hoses from catching on branches, sticks, etc.
- Walk through logged areas while pumping the backpack and waving the wand sufficiently to maintain pressure and achieve good coverage
- Follow the direction of the supervisor, crew leader, and mixer
- Space off flagged boundaries and riparian areas
- Wait for ideal weather conditions
- Work areas are assigned by the client over a large geographic region. Frequent travel will be expected
- Be an active participant in our safety system, attend tailgate meetings, and complete trainings as applicable
Minimum Requirements:
- The physical ability to perform a highly demanding role
- The ability to carry 50+ pounds on your back
- The repeated use of pumping arm and the repeated swing of spray arm
- Ability to walk rapidly over debris on uneven terrain
- Tree planting or other forestry work experience
- The ability to work well individually and as part of a team
- The ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions
- Decision-making skills
- Map reading skills
- Willingness to work, enjoy, and live in a remote setting
- Preparation for work in all weather conditions
- Commitment to the end of August at a minimum
- A good work ethic, a positive attitude, and willingness to contribute
