Program Overview – ExCel Discovery
The ExCel Discovery Program at Enviros is a group living facility designed for youth aged 12 to 20 who are serving an Open Custody Sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. This program collaborates closely with Young Offender Centers to provide youth with opportunities to address issues related to addiction, mental health, and social challenges. The primary objective of the ExCel Discovery staff is to facilitate a healthy reintegration into the community by promoting life skills, educational engagement, and the development of positive relationships.
Position Summary
The ideal candidate will be an integral part of a team that operates the program from an experiential, strength-based approach. The role involves working in a live-in group home setting focused on successfully reintegrating youth into the community. The support worker will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.
Work Schedule: Awake Overnight, Sunday – Thursday 11:00pm-7:00am
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to residents using a trauma-informed care approach in a live-in group environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Complete and submit all necessary government, justice, and daily documentation promptly.
  • Engage in crisis intervention as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure the well-being of residents, including conducting bed checks.
  • Maintain house expectations, including meal preparation, cleaning, and sanitization.
  • Adhere to established health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and additional training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or a related Human Services field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in youth justice, child and youth care, social work, or human services is advantageous.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Familiarity with experiential learning, strength-based practices, and trauma-informed care is preferred.
Additional Qualifications
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 5 GDL is not acceptable).
  • A clean driver's abstract with no more than two minor offenses or one major offense.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (conducted within the last six months).
  • Child Intervention Check (conducted within the last six months).
