Program Overview – ExCel Discovery
The Enviros ExCel Discovery Program is a residential open-custody facility catering to youth aged 12 to 20 who are serving Open Custody Sentences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. We collaborate closely with Young Offender Centers to provide youth with the tools to address addictions, mental health challenges, and social issues. Our goal is to facilitate a healthy reintegration into the community by promoting life skills, educational engagement, and the development of positive relationships.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will join a dedicated team operating from an experiential, strength-based perspective. As a live-in support worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting youth in their successful reintegration into the community, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Work Schedule: Awake Overnight, Sunday – Thursday 11:00pm-7:00am
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to residents utilizing a trauma-informed care approach in a residential setting.
  • Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Complete and submit all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Engage in crisis intervention as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of residents, including conducting bed checks.
  • Maintain house expectations, including meal preparation and cleanliness.
  • Follow standard health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and ongoing training.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Education and Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or a related Human Services field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in youth justice, child and youth care, social work, or human services is an asset.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Familiarity with experiential learning, strength-based practices, and trauma-informed care.
Additional Qualifications
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 5 GDL not accepted).
  • A clean driver's abstract with no more than two minor offenses or one major offense.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (current within six months).
  • Child Intervention Check (current within six months).
