The Stride Program

Enviros is thrilled to introduce this innovative model of care within the Child Intervention System. STRIDE represents a Therapeutic Foster Caregiving approach that is family-centered, culturally sensitive, and designed for short-term, out-of-home placements aimed at supporting youth with complex needs. This model encompasses a comprehensive service framework that includes a highly skilled and trained Contracted Agency Caregiver as the primary facilitator of change, collaborating with a Therapeutic Team that provides individualized, trauma-informed support.

Role Overview

Our Specialized Foster Caregivers offer youth a secure, nurturing family environment that promotes healthy development and meaningful relationships until they can transition to their permanent homes. These caregivers play a vital role in the daily experiences that guide youth towards a successful adulthood. Our Specialized Foster Caregivers have the potential to profoundly influence the lives of youth with complex needs who are involved in the Children's Services system. We provide top-tier training to ensure our Specialized Foster Caregivers are equipped to offer the necessary support and guidance for these youth to thrive.

With the nurturing of a loving, trauma-informed home, these youth can remain in a family setting instead of facing group care, homelessness, or worse outcomes. Our Specialized Foster Caregivers can significantly alter the trajectory of a child's life and future with the backing of our highly skilled team approach. Successful candidates will join this therapeutic team, which includes a family coach, therapist, youth specialist, and cultural support, all working from an experiential, strength-based perspective.

When you become a caregiver with Enviros and the Stride program, you will receive extensive support and resources. Our Caregiver Support Model is comprehensive and designed with your needs in mind. This includes:

Required Competencies

  • Commitment to supporting youth with complex needs

  • Adaptability to changing circumstances
  • Effective communication skills

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Background in human services with vulnerable populations
  • Familiarity with strength-based practices and trauma-informed care
  • Experience working with high-risk youth

Additional Qualifications

  • Availability of a spare bedroom in your home
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 5 GDL not accepted)
  • Clean driver's abstract with no more than two minor offenses or one major offense
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C" certification
  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months)
  • Child Intervention Check (within one year)
