Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Child and Youth Support Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work with at-risk youth (13-17 years old) in a community group living program, providing support and guidance to enhance their areas of competence and develop skills in individual areas of need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build relationships and trust with youth, providing care and support to enhance their areas of competence.
  • Develop skills in individual areas of need through intentional practice, recreation, life skills, community involvement, and therapeutic programming.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to provide a holistic approach to supporting youth.
Requirements
  • Must be 18-30 years old.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Having a current (within 12 months) Alberta Intervention Record Check is highly preferred.
  • Having a current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector is highly preferred.
  • Having a First Aid and CPR/AED 'C' certification is highly preferred.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Knowledge of Harm Reduction, strength-based practice, and trauma-informed care.
  • Experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 5 GDL will not be accepted).
  • A clean driver's abstract containing not more than two (2) minor offences or one (1) major offence.
