Position: Overnight Youth Support Specialist

Program Overview:
The ExCel Discovery Program is a structured living environment designed for young individuals aged 12 to 20 who are serving an Open Custody Sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. This program collaborates closely with Young Offender Centers to provide comprehensive support.

Role Overview:
The Overnight Youth Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and welfare of residents during overnight hours. This position involves:
  • Providing support to residents through a trauma-informed care approach in a group living environment.
  • Upholding regular household standards, including meal preparation, cleaning, and sanitation.
  • Participating in staff meetings and ongoing training as necessary.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will possess:
  • Strong skills in child and youth care.
  • A collaborative spirit with creativity and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or a related Human Services field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in youth justice, child and youth care, social work, or human services is preferred, though new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of experiential learning, strength-based practices, and trauma-informed care.
Additional Requirements:
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 5 GDL is not acceptable).
  • A Child Intervention Check completed within the last six months.
