The primary responsibility of the Operations Team Lead is to manage the execution of all air import shipments, ensuring their smooth transit and oversight throughout the journey. This position requires effective supervision of shipment handling, guaranteeing adherence to DSV's corporate standards and applicable governmental regulations. The role necessitates regular communication with clients, international offices, and carriers. Additionally, this position involves mentoring and training new employees, as well as updating internal and external processes as necessary.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Oversee daily management and coordination of air import shipments.

• Direct the day-to-day operations of the Operations Department at the desk level.

• Advocate for processes and procedures that meet or surpass company KPI standards.

• Establish and manage schedules with carriers while facilitating shipment tenders.

• Generate and distribute reports as required.

• Provide mentorship and training to new team members as needed.

• Identify issues proactively and implement suitable solutions swiftly.

• Ensure cost efficiency in shipment handling.

• Assess shipments, consolidate loads, and select the most economical delivery methods.

• Maintain daily communication with clients regarding relevant matters and resolutions.

• Manage the implementation of new accounts from standard operating procedures to execution.

• Demonstrate strong deductive reasoning, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.

• Address any issues that arise within the scope of responsibility effectively.

• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Quality, Health & Safety:


• Support the organizational commitment to ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

• Perform assigned tasks to help DSV achieve its objectives regarding quality, health, safety, and environmental standards, adhering to the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.

• Employees are expected to incorporate sustainability and health and safety into their daily activities, minimizing environmental impact and enhancing workplace safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience


• Degree in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field.

• At least four years of experience in a freight forwarding environment.

• CIFFA certification is a plus.

• Dangerous Goods certification is advantageous.

• ACR designated status is beneficial (for Airfreight only).

• Strong command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Language and Computer Skills


• Proficient in both English and French.

• Effective communication skills in a diverse multicultural environment.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience with CargoWise is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.

• Regular working hours apply, with potential for extended hours based on business needs.
