The primary responsibility of the Air Import Operations Specialist is to oversee all inbound shipments, ensuring efficient movement and monitoring throughout the transit process. This role necessitates managing shipments from initiation to completion while adhering to DSV policies and relevant governmental regulations. As the main point of contact for clients, the position emphasizes delivering exceptional customer service and quality by effectively handling all inbound requirements within designated timeframes. Direct interaction with clients, overseas offices, airlines, warehouses, and transportation providers is essential.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Daily oversight and coordination of inbound shipments

• Develop and manage schedules with carriers and dispatch shipments

• Generate and coordinate country-specific documentation

• Comply with all domestic and international shipping laws

• Monitor and trace all shipments

• Prepare and distribute reports as needed

• Proactively identify issues and implement effective solutions

• Confirm pricing with carriers

• Manage cost efficiency of shipments through the accounting system

• Assess shipments, consolidate loads, and select the most economical transport methods

• Ensure all DSV Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met throughout the shipment process

• Conduct lane analysis on orders to determine the most suitable transport mode according to customer specifications

• Maintain daily communication with clients regarding pertinent issues and resolutions

• Oversee the implementation of new accounts from standard operating procedures to execution

Quality, Health & Safety:


• Support the organization's commitment to ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certification – Montreal location

• Perform assigned tasks to help DSV achieve its objectives regarding quality, health, safety, and environmental standards, adhering to the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.

• Employees are expected to ensure that their daily activities promote sustainability and health and safety, thereby minimizing environmental impact, supporting local communities, and reducing workplace incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience


• A minimum of two years of experience in the international transportation sector or,

• Educational background in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field.

• CIFFA certification is advantageous

• Dangerous Goods Certification is beneficial

• GDP Training, if applicable

Skills and Competencies


• Proficient in both verbal and written English skills.

• Ability to foster collaborative relationships and practice active listening

• Customer-focused with the capability to resolve client concerns

• Strong interpersonal skills for building professional relationships internally and externally

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities

• Capable of multitasking, planning, prioritizing, and managing time effectively to meet objectives and achieve results

• A team builder and a cooperative team member

• Outstanding organizational and time management skills

Language and Computer Skills


• Proficient in both English and French

• Effective communication skills in a diverse multicultural environment.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

• Experience with CargoWise is a plus

Physical Demands


• Extended periods of sitting and standing at a desk while working on a computer

• Regular working hours apply for this position; however, flexibility may be required based on business needs.
