Position Overview

As a Governance Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Corporate Secretariat with various responsibilities related to the Corporation's Board of Directors and its Committees. Your contributions will include:


Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the development and coordination of Board and Committee agendas, work plans, and action lists.
  • Overseeing the distribution of reports for Board meetings in collaboration with the Board Administrator.
  • Acting as the recording secretary for all Board and Committee meetings, ensuring accurate and timely minutes are produced.
  • Managing the Directors' Training Program, which encompasses new Director orientation, annual training plans, and offboarding processes.
  • Supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing Board governance and effectiveness.
  • Monitoring the review cycles for corporate policies and coordinating updates with relevant business lines.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders on governance matters and responding to inquiries as needed.
  • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Board and Committee Charters, Corporate By-law, and related policies.
  • Fostering positive working relationships with Board directors and colleagues across the organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in supporting a corporate secretary or providing board assistance.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the financial sector or within federal public service/Crown corporations.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal Crown corporation requirements.
  • Extensive administrative experience, particularly in taking meeting minutes.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and decisiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in both English and French, with strong oral and written communication skills.

Additional Assets

While not mandatory, the following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • A law degree or paralegal certification.
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors.
  • Project management or planning skills.

Language and Security Requirements

Language Requirements: Bilingual Imperative: Level (BBB/BBB)

Security Clearance: Eligibility to obtain a Secret-level security clearance.
