Job Overview

The Senior Director of IT Platform Operations will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Information Technology. This role is integral to fostering collaboration within an agile development framework, working closely with both IT and business sectors to progressively deliver on strategic IT objectives. The individual will be accountable for defining, managing, and executing infrastructure, DevOps, and platform strategies that align with the organization's goals and operational strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Planning: Lead the formulation, revision, and enhancement of the infrastructure strategy roadmap for the next three to five years, transitioning from the current state to the desired future state. This encompasses network, computing, and storage solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments. Additionally, assess business strategies and provide insights into external technology solutions that support business direction and sustainability.
  2. Leadership Development: Guide and provide strategic direction to a team of professionals in data center management, cloud services, end-user support, and DevOps, ensuring that business objectives are achieved while delivering exceptional customer service.
  3. Collaborative Engagement: Partner with business and IT leadership to offer insights on the infrastructure foundation necessary for application design, compliance, governance, and technology maintenance to meet business goals.
  4. Project Leadership: Spearhead and engage in cross-functional projects as necessary, providing high-level estimates for project proposals and solution designs.
  5. Operational Oversight: Supervise the development, monitoring, and reporting of relevant operational KPIs for platform performance.
  6. Quality Assurance: Establish and promote high-quality architectural standards for infrastructure that ensure functionality, reusability, reliability, availability, and security.
  7. Process Enhancement: Foster continuous improvement by analyzing infrastructure metrics and identifying opportunities for process optimization.
  8. Maintenance Management: Oversee routine maintenance tasks such as patching, backups, monitoring, asset management, incident management, and root cause analysis. Lead the development and upkeep of end-user platforms with an emphasis on simplicity and sustainability.
  9. Disaster Recovery Planning: Design, implement, and test Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans for all core transactional platforms and services.
  10. Compliance and Governance: Collaborate with the Director of Security & Audit to ensure that infrastructure and support processes align with audit, compliance, and governance standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of progressive experience in managing IT teams.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience in IT Service Management, Project Management, Application Delivery, or Technical Systems Architecture.
  • Proven experience in design-centered thinking, with a focus on problem identification and resolution, along with the ability to mentor others in this approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, demonstrating a capacity to motivate and instill a strong work ethic in team members.
  • Strong capability to quickly grasp business strategies and operational models.
  • Experience in applying gap analysis techniques to inform long-term technical strategies.
  • Solid understanding of key business and technology domains, including strategy, governance, IT Service Management, Infrastructure, Software Development Life Cycle, and DevOps.
  • Familiarity with both Infrastructure and Software Development Life Cycle practices, with a preference for DevOps experience.
  • Experience in cloud administration and engineering practices, particularly with AWS or Azure.
  • Expertise in virtualization technologies, including VMWare, VDI, and Cloud solutions.
  • Knowledge of VoIP and Call Center technologies.
  • Proficiency in DevOps automation and deployment tools such as Jira, Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, and Docker.
  • Previous experience supporting businesses in navigating regulatory, audit, and SOC2 controls documentation and testing is advantageous.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor a team of IT professionals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
