Position Overview
We are excited to announce an opening for the role of Director, Purchasing. This pivotal position is located in our corporate offices and reports directly to the Vice-President of Supply Chain.
This role is designed for a visionary leader passionate about transforming the Purchasing function. The Director will oversee the North American Purchasing operations, managing an operational budget of $1 billion, which encompasses materials such as resins, additives, components, packaging, and various corporate goods and services. The successful candidate will lead a team of 40 professionals and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of Purchasing activities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct all facets of North American Purchasing Operations, including requisition management, purchase order oversight, supplier negotiations, and supplier performance management.
- Oversee both Direct and Indirect Purchasing related to manufacturing and corporate functions, managing a total portfolio valued at $1.2 billion.
- Lead and develop a diverse team of approximately 40 members across North America, optimizing the Purchasing structure to align with corporate objectives.
- Collaborate with Finance to manage internal control risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Analyze Purchasing performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and execute necessary corrective actions.
- Establish and govern monthly KPI reviews to celebrate achievements, identify gaps, and implement corrective measures, alongside conducting Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Facilitate the integration of Purchasing operations for newly acquired companies.
- Provide strategic leadership to the Purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading Purchasing and Sourcing functions.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial and technical aspects of Purchasing, including regulatory compliance and global trade.
- Proficiency in SAP and other relevant Purchasing technology platforms.
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to build collaborative relationships with suppliers.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on team development and performance management.
- Experience in Purchasing management within automotive, industrial, or FMCG sectors.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels, adapting communication styles as necessary.
- Proven success in leveraging data-driven solutions and analytics to enhance Purchasing processes.
- Track record of successfully transforming work processes and engaging teams throughout the change journey.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to influence beyond direct authority.
