Position Overview

The Senior Director of IT Platform Operations will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Information Technology. This role is integral to the agile development framework, fostering collaboration across IT and business sectors to progressively implement key IT objectives. The incumbent will be tasked with defining, managing, and executing strategies related to Infrastructure, DevOps, and platform initiatives that align with the overarching goals of the department and the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Planning: Lead the formulation, enhancement, and ongoing refinement of the infrastructure strategy roadmap, transitioning from the current state to the desired future state over the next three to five years. This encompasses network, computing, and storage solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments. Additionally, assess business strategies and provide insights on external technology solutions to ensure alignment with business direction and technological sustainability.
  2. Leadership and Development: Offer strategic guidance and leadership to a team comprising data center, cloud, end-user management, and DevOps professionals. This includes continuous coaching and evaluation of team members' skills to ensure that business objectives are achieved while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  3. Collaborative Engagement: Partner closely with business and IT leadership to contribute to the foundational infrastructure that supports application design, compliance, governance, and technology maintenance to meet business goals.
  4. Project Oversight: Spearhead and engage in cross-functional projects as necessary, providing high-level estimates for project proposals and solution designs.
  5. Operational Metrics: Supervise the development, monitoring, and reporting of relevant operational KPIs related to platform performance.
  6. Quality Standards: Establish and promote high-quality architectural standards for infrastructure to ensure functionality, reusability, reliability, availability, and security.
  7. Process Enhancement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by monitoring infrastructure metrics and identifying opportunities for process optimization.
  8. Maintenance Management: Oversee routine maintenance tasks, including patching, backups, monitoring, asset management, incident management, and root cause analysis. Lead the development and upkeep of end-user platforms, emphasizing simplicity and sustainability.
  9. Disaster Recovery Planning: Design, implement, and test Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity strategies for all core transactional platforms and services.
  10. Compliance and Governance: Collaborate with the Director of Security & Audit to ensure that infrastructure and support processes align with audit, compliance, and governance standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of progressive management experience leading IT teams.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience in IT Service Management, Project Management, Application Delivery, or Technical Systems Architecture.
  • Proven expertise in design-centered thinking, focusing on problem identification and resolution, with the ability to mentor others in this approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and inspire a similar work ethic in team members.
  • Strong understanding of business strategy and operational models.
  • Experience in conducting gap analysis to inform long-term technical strategies.
  • Solid grasp of key business and technology domains, including strategy, governance, ITSM, Infrastructure, SDLC, and DevOps.
  • Preferred experience in both Infrastructure and SDLC practices, particularly in DevOps.
  • Familiarity with cloud administration and engineering practices on platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Expertise in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare, VDI, Cloud).
  • Knowledge of VoIP and Call Center technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps automation and deployment tools such as Jira, Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, and Docker.
  • Prior experience supporting businesses in regulatory compliance, audit, and SOC2 controls documentation and testing.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to mentor IT professionals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
