Anesthesia Technician Trainee, Anaesthesia Tech Services

Join a dedicated team focused on enhancing patient care in the field of anesthesia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup and initiation of anesthesia, including preoperative checks and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment for each procedure. Support patient readiness through tasks such as preoperative evaluations, positioning, and setup of invasive lines.
  • Under the guidance of a qualified anesthesiologist, aid in the insertion of devices such as oro or nasogastric tubes, intravenous lines, and intra-arterial catheters. Participate in establishing arterial lines and assist with central line placements and neuraxial techniques, including epidurals and spinal anesthesia. Support airway management, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Contribute to the accurate documentation of patient information on the Anesthetic Record.
  • Assist in procedural sedation as directed, monitoring patient status during surgery and responding to intraoperative challenges, including airway management and hemodynamic stability. Administer prescribed medications to ensure effective anesthesia and stability.
  • Maintain and replenish essential medical carts for pediatric care, difficult intubation, and emergency situations.
  • Support anesthesiologists during patient emergence from anesthesia, including managing ventilation and ensuring safe transfer to postoperative care.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, with experience in critical care or acute care settings.
  • Active enrollment in a recognized Certificate of Anesthesia Assistant program.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
