ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: The BC-CfE is a globally recognized HIV/AIDS Centre that employs an innovative, low-barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice. Our integrated research focuses on Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health, Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Professional Education Programs. Our multidisciplinary team comprises clinicians, including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, and Peers, alongside researchers such as Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts, all working collaboratively to enhance the health of British Columbians living with HIV and those facing socio-economic barriers to healthcare access through the development, ongoing monitoring, and dissemination of comprehensive research and treatment programs for HIV and related diseases.

POSITION SUMMARY: As a Core Operations Business Analyst at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, you will be instrumental in engaging key stakeholders to ascertain business needs, analyze workflows, and develop data-driven solutions aimed at enhancing project and operational performance. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading clinical experts to foster healthcare innovation and improve patient outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Requirements Gathering: Engage with stakeholders to collect and document business requirements.
  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to comprehend business processes and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate findings.
  • Process Improvement: Assess existing business processes and propose enhancements to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement strategies for process improvement and monitor their outcomes.
  • Project Management: Assist in the planning and execution of projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables align with business requirements.
  • Documentation: Produce detailed business requirement documents (BRDs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and functional specifications as necessary.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of business processes, systems, and workflows.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams.
  • Facilitate meetings and presentations to relay project status, findings, and recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Health Informatics) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis.
  • Professional Business Analysis Certifications (CBAP, PBA) are preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) or relevant certifications is preferred.
  • Experience in Business Process Documentation and SOP development, preferably within a healthcare context.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to convert complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proficient in understanding and translating clinical and Line of Business (LOB) requirements into business and technology solutions.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking in analyzing operational challenges and recommending innovative solutions.
  • Customer-focused with the capacity to facilitate and promote cooperation among diverse operational groups and cross-functional teams.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to resolve conflicts effectively, negotiate desired outcomes, and solve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks without direct supervision. Demonstrated administrative, organizational, work planning, and control skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python) is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and healthcare databases.
