ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: The BC-CfE is a globally recognized HIV/AIDS center that employs an innovative, low-barrier approach to healthcare delivery. Our multidisciplinary team includes clinicians and researchers dedicated to enhancing the health of British Columbians affected by HIV and those facing socio-economic barriers to healthcare access through comprehensive research and treatment programs.

POSITION SUMMARY: As a Core Operations Business Analyst at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, you will be instrumental in engaging key stakeholders to identify business needs, analyze workflows, and develop data-driven solutions aimed at enhancing project and operational performance. You will collaborate with leading clinical experts to foster healthcare innovation and improve patient outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Requirements Gathering: Engage with stakeholders to collect and document business requirements through interviews, workshops, and surveys to understand processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Data Analysis: Examine data to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions. Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate findings.
  • Process Improvement: Assess current business processes and propose enhancements to boost efficiency and effectiveness. Formulate and implement process improvement strategies while monitoring their impact.
  • Project Management: Support the planning and execution of projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables align with business requirements.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive business requirement documents (BRDs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and functional specifications as necessary. Maintain thorough documentation of business processes, systems, and workflows.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams. Facilitate meetings and presentations to convey project status, findings, and recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Health Informatics) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis.
  • Professional Business Analysis Certifications (CBAP, PBA) are preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) or relevant certifications is preferred.
  • Experience in Business Process Documentation and SOP development, preferably within a healthcare context.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proficient in translating clinical and Line of Business (LOB) requirements into business and technology solutions.
  • Critical thinking skills to analyze operational challenges and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to foster cooperation among diverse operational groups and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to resolve conflicts, negotiate outcomes, and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks independently. Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques; knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python) is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and healthcare databases.
