Nutrition Services Clerk

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Efficient management of nutritional data through the organization of tasks; directing inquiries related to dietary information to the appropriate channels; processing and printing patient menu tickets; compiling tube feeding reports; maintaining current diet lists; managing diet modifications; overseeing nourishment sheets and meal tallies; and preparing discharge lists.
Involvement in the assembly of patient trays as needed. Inputting patient preference data, supplements, and nourishment details. Addressing inquiries from Registered Dietitians via phone and electronic messages.Ongoing communication with nursing departments regarding dietary needs, texture modifications, and allergy considerations; printing discharge lists and assisting in meal tray assembly.
Ensuring follow-up actions are taken to uphold established protocols and the high standards of the department. Additional related tasks as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:
*Minimum completion of grade 12 education;
*Proficient understanding of therapeutic diets and nutrition (assessed)
*Certification in Food Handling and training;
*Awareness of sanitation and safety practices with the ability to implement these principles;
*Familiarity with dietetic medical terminology (assessed);
*Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel (assessed);
*Accurate typing skills (30 wpm, assessed);
*Experience with Meditech, particularly in OE Nursing and Admissions modules;
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the public, patients, and all staff levels;
*Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities;
*Proven commitment to confidentiality;
*Demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision;
*Willingness to accept responsibilities and instructions, showing self-motivation and initiative;
*Physically able to perform tasks including reaching, bending, pulling, and walking;
*Preferred experience in a clerical role within a Nutrition Services or Hospital environment;
*Familiarity with CBORD nutrition application is advantageous;
*Flexibility in availability, including readiness to respond to call-in requirements for various shifts;

*Understanding and commitment to comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, with participation in regular training in this area;
*Proven record of good attendance and the ability to maintain this standard.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Employment terms are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
Successful external candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the last six months.
