POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Dietitian, as part of the Inpatient Dietitian Team, plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional nutritional care and education to hospitalized patients and their families.

Nutrition services will be extended to various departments including:

  • Complex Continuing Care
  • Rehabilitation
  • General Medicine and Surgery
  • Nephrology
  • Oncology
  • Maternal Child Services
  • Critical Care
  • Mental Health
  • Emergency Services

Continuous assessment and adjustment of caseload will be performed to address the needs of the inpatient demographic across Lakeridge, supported by mentoring and educational initiatives.

Registered Dietitians are integral to program development, execution, and assessment within a multidisciplinary team framework, overseeing nutrition students and dietetic interns, along with additional responsibilities as required.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, complemented by the successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program or a recognized equivalent is mandatory;
  • Must be eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario;
  • Preferably possesses recent clinical experience in an inpatient environment.
  • Proven effective communication and interpersonal abilities;
  • Physically capable of fulfilling the duties of the role, including bending, lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods;
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues and multidisciplinary team members, adapting to a dynamic environment and responding proactively.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous education and professional development.
  • Proven teaching and counseling skills;
  • A strong commitment to the core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork, and Joy;
  • Understanding and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety protocols, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, along with participation in regular in-service training sessions.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

Employment terms are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

External candidates must present a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the last six months.
