DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Processing nutritional data through effective workload management; directing inquiries related to dietary information to the appropriate resources; generating and distributing patient menu tickets; compiling tube feeding reports; maintaining current diet lists; managing diet modifications; preparing nourishment sheets and meal tallies; and organizing discharge lists.

In certain situations, assembling patient trays may be required. Inputting patient preference data, supplements, and nourishment information is essential. Addressing inquiries from Registered Dietitians via telephone and electronic messages is a key responsibility.

Ongoing communication with nursing units is crucial to address diet, texture, and allergy discrepancies; printing discharge lists and assisting with meal tray assembly.

Ensuring adherence to established procedures and maintaining the high standards of the department is vital. Additional related responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Minimum completion of grade 12 education;
*Required knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition (assessed)
*Certification in Food Handling and training;
*Awareness of sanitation and safety practices with the ability to implement these principles;
*Familiarity with dietetic medical terminology (assessed);
*Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel (assessed);
*Accurate typing skills (30 wpm, assessed);
*Experience with Meditech, particularly in OE Nursing and Admissions modules;
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with the public, patients, and all staff levels;
*Effective organizational and prioritization abilities;
*Proven commitment to confidentiality;
*Demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision;
*Willingness to accept responsibility and instructions, showing self-motivation and initiative;
*Physically able to perform tasks including reaching, bending, pulling, and walking;
*Previous experience in a clerical role within Nutrition Services or a hospital environment is preferred;
*Familiarity with CBORD nutrition applications is an asset;
*Flexibility in availability is required, with the ability to respond to call-in needs for all shifts;

*Understanding and commitment to comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff and patient safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this area;
*Proven good attendance record and the ability to maintain this standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment terms are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful external applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector.
