Lakeridge Health is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Admitting Clerk to join our team in the Emergency Department. As a key member of our patient registration team, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless patient flow and providing exceptional customer service to our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Register all Emergency patients in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide direction and information to ER patients and their families
- Utilize EPIC Clinical Information System (CIS) for admitting and discharging patients
- Maintain ER records and scan documents as required
- Provide ED wait time passports to patients
- Document WSIB and collect and document insurance information
- Create financial forms and receive payments
- Answer telephone inquiries and relay accurate messages
- Assist with morgue processes and other related duties as required
- Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of EPIC Patient Access
- Keyboarding skills of 35 w.p.m. (tested)
- Knowledge of medical terminology (tested)
- Proven ability to work well in a high-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and to demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter
- Physically capable of reaching, pulling, bending, walking, lifting, carrying frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks
- Proven attention to detail
- The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritization, organizational and time-management abilities
- Must have satisfactory performance record
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
- Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area
- The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364
- Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months
