DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Registered Dietitian, as a vital member of the Inpatient Dietitian Team, is tasked with delivering exceptional nutritional care and education to inpatients and their families.

Nutrition services will be extended to various programs including:

Complex Continuing Care, Rehabilitation, General Medicine and Surgery, Nephrology, Oncology, Maternal Child Services, Critical Care, Mental Health, and Emergency.

Continuous assessment and redistribution of caseload will be conducted to address the needs of the inpatient demographic across Lakeridge, supported by mentoring and educational initiatives.

Registered Dietitians play a crucial role in program planning, execution, and evaluation within a multidisciplinary team framework, oversee nutrition students and dietetic interns, and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a major in Food and Nutrition, along with successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program or a recognized equivalent is essential;
  • Must be eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario;
  • Recent clinical experience in an inpatient environment is preferred.
  • Proven effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Physically capable of performing the responsibilities of the position, including bending, turning, lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods;
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities;
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively with peers and multidisciplinary team members, adapting to a dynamic environment and responding with initiative.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous education and professional development.
  • Proven effective teaching and counseling abilities;

  • A clear understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety protocols and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety, along with participation in regular in-service education sessions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment terms and conditions are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful external candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
