About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Palliative Care Physician to join our dynamic and growing multidisciplinary team on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you will provide coverage to palliative patients and families at home, hospital, and hospice settings.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and delivery of inter-professional initiatives in Palliative Care across all faculties.
  • Provide care in various care settings, including hospital, in-patient palliative care unit, home, long-term care, and assisted living residences.
  • Follow patients after initial consult with appropriate visits, phone support, and collaboration with other healthcare providers.
  • Work closely with the palliative care team to provide comprehensive care.
  • Act as a patient advocate and provide support to families.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, including CADD pumps usage.
  • Mentor longitudinal integrated clerkship students and family medicine residents from Dalhousie University.
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership.
  • Accredited training in Palliative Medicine or Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a shared care model and across various care settings.
  • Demonstrated interest in the palliative approach to care and capacity building with other colleagues.
