About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Palliative Care Physician to join our dynamic and growing multidisciplinary team on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you will provide coverage to palliative patients and families at home, hospital, and hospice settings.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a supportive team of palliative care nurses, social workers, administrative assistants, a program manager, and other palliative care physicians to deliver high-quality patient care. You will also have the opportunity to participate in teaching and research activities with Dalhousie University.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive palliative care to patients and families in various settings, including hospital, in-patient palliative care unit, home, long-term care, and assisted living residences.
  • Develop and deliver inter-professional initiatives in Palliative Care across all faculties.
  • Collaborate with family physicians and medical specialists using a shared-care model.
  • Mentor longitudinal integrated clerkship students and family medicine residents from Dalhousie University.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, including CADD pumps usage.
  • Act as a patient advocate and work closely with the palliative care team.
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership.
  • Accredited training in Palliative Medicine or Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a shared care model and across a multitude of care settings.
  • Demonstrated interest in the palliative approach to care and capacity building with other colleagues.
