Palliative Care Physician Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Palliative Care Physician to join our dynamic and growing multidisciplinary team on the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia. This 0.5 FTE locum to permanent position provides coverage to palliative patients and families at home, hospital, and hospice. As a member of our team, you will work closely with a collegial group of healthcare professionals, including palliative care nurses, social workers, and other physicians.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive palliative care to patients and families in various care settings, including hospital, home, and hospice.
- Collaborate with family physicians and medical specialists using a shared-care model.
- Mentor longitudinal integrated clerkship students and family medicine residents from Dalhousie University.
- Act as a patient advocate and provide support to patients and families in a compassionate and empathetic manner.
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, including CADD pumps usage.
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership.
- Accredited training in Palliative Medicine or Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care.
- Demonstrated ability and experience working in a shared care model and across various care settings.
