About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Certified Palliative Medicine Physician to join our dynamic and growing multidisciplinary palliative care team on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you will provide coverage to palliative patients and families in various care settings, including hospitals, hospices, and home care. You will work collaboratively with a supportive team of palliative care nurses, social workers, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in palliative care, including development and delivery of inter-professional initiatives.
  • Deliver patient care in all care settings, including hospital, in-patient palliative care unit, home, long-term care, and assisted living residences.
  • Follow patients after initial consult with appropriate visits, phone support, and collaboration with other healthcare providers.
  • Work closely with the palliative care team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Act as a patient advocate and provide education to patients and families.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, including CADD pumps.
  • Mentor longitudinal integrated clerkship students and family medicine residents from Dalhousie University.
Expected Hours
  • Part-time 0.5 FTE
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Accredited training in Palliative Medicine or Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a shared care model and across multiple care settings.
  • Demonstrated interest in the palliative approach to care and capacity building with other colleagues.
