Palliative Care Physician Opportunity

We are seeking a Certified Palliative Medicine Physician to join our dynamic and growing multidisciplinary palliative care team on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you will provide coverage to palliative patients and families in various care settings, including hospitals, hospices, and home care. You will work collaboratively with a supportive team of palliative care nurses, social workers, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and expertise in palliative care, including development and delivery of inter-professional initiatives.
- Deliver patient care in all care settings, including hospital, in-patient palliative care unit, home, long-term care, and assisted living residences.
- Follow patients after initial consult with appropriate visits, phone support, and collaboration with other healthcare providers.
- Work closely with the palliative care team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Act as a patient advocate and provide education to patients and families.
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, including CADD pumps.
- Mentor longitudinal integrated clerkship students and family medicine residents from Dalhousie University.
- Part-time 0.5 FTE
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Accredited training in Palliative Medicine or Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care.
- Demonstrated ability and experience working in a shared care model and across multiple care settings.
- Demonstrated interest in the palliative approach to care and capacity building with other colleagues.
