- As an Ability Advisor in the Abilities Management Unit, you will collaborate with third-party benefit providers such as WCB and internal stakeholders to facilitate the safe and successful return to work for employees. You will work closely with the CPS HR Placements team (HR Sergeants), Occupational Health, Psychological Therapies Section and Peer-Support Services such as Reintegration. Primary duties include:

- Communicate relevant information to supervisors, managers, and employees regarding fitness for work.
- Ensure case files are organized and managed effectively through timely updates, consistent documentation, and regular contact with the employee.
- Provide support to the development, implementation and measurement of injury and illness prevention programs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze and resolve return to work barriers and issues.
- Provide advice and educate stakeholders on restrictions/limitations, occupational duties, return to work, WCB, S&A (Sickness & Accident) and LTD (Long Term Disability) processes.
- Initiate and respond to communication from internal and external partners.
- Work with WCB and third-party benefit providers as required.
- Develop and implement communication and education programs.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary diploma in a health or related field and at least 3 years' experience in disability management in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity are preferred including some experience in a multi union work environment.
- Completion of a Disability Management Practitioner Certificate Program, National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR), Certified Disability Management.
- Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) designations are considered an asset.
- Additional course work in occupational health, rehabilitation, legislation related to disability management, helping relationship skills, human resource management, disability insurance, psychological and workplace factors in disability would be an asset.
- Success in this position requires strong communication skills, efficiency and thoroughness, initiative, and the ability to foster relationships that contribute to team building and teamwork. Excellent customer service skills, remaining calm in stressful situations and managing complex tasks under tight deadlines.

**Pre-employment Requirements**
- An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
