- As a Mechanical Inspector working in the Collision Reconstruction unit at Calgary Police Service (CPS), you will perform mechanical inspections on vehicles that have been involved in a serious injury/fatality collisions. You will also act as an expert witness in a court of law. Primary duties include:

- Examine vehicles involved in serious injury/fatality collisions to determine presence or absence of mechanical defects.
- Prepare and present court documents, attend Court of Law as required.
- Draft and edit inspection forms and documents.

**Qualifications**
- A Provincial Journeyperson Certificate in Automotive Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic.
- A minimum of 5 years experience inspecting or repairing a wide variety of vehicles.
- Knowledge of vehicle failure analysis is required.
- Success in this position requires: Coaching and development, communication, efficiency and thoroughness, planning and prioritizing/visionary; relationship building, self-confidence, service orientation.

**Working Conditions**:Inspection work is performed in mechanical shop with exposure to unknown contaminates from collision vehicles.

**Pre-employment Requirements**
- An enhanced security clearance and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
