Communitech is a hybrid organization headquartered in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. In-person connection is important to us, so we get together regularly for special events, collaboration days and team socials, and we ask our team members to work onsite from our Kitchener facility for a minimum of 2 days per week. We are a flexible, people first environment and want to allow our people to make decisions and choices about where they work to support work life balance within clear guidelines.

**Position Summary**

Communitech is currently seeking a self-driven, self-directed, passionate business development leader with a proven and demonstrable track record of delivering results in the world of event and program based sponsorships. As a key member of our Business Development team, our Head/Director of Business Development will grow Communitech’s Business Development programs. The role will require a strong working relationship with our events, marketing, account management teams in addition to working directly with program teams such as the Founder Service team and various ecosystem players including service providers. Your focus will be to ensure the Communitech internal teams are consistently aligned to business opportunities that arise from exploring program sponsorship that arise throughout our ecosystem.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement a business development plan for meeting revenue targets for core programs. Target objectives include meeting sponsorship targets and collaborating with Communitech’s program owners in the creation of sellable products, in order to meet or exceed the overall business objectives.
- Build senior level relationships with Ecosystem Members, to ensure that Communitech is a strategic partner in our sponsor’s engagement with the local tech community
- Identify, deploy, and manage internal resources against high-growth business development objectives to drive revenue for the organization
- Develop and implement a budget to achieve the Program and Events objectives.
- In partnership with Communitech program owners, develop, maintain and implement business development program guidelines to increase sponsorship recruitment, satisfaction, and support.
- Manage all business development activities, including prospecting, proposal customization and presentation, contract revision and servicing, follow-up and support and representing the organization at community and industry functions.
- Submit sales plans, prospect activity, and forecast reports to the SVP Marketing and Business Development; provide briefings to others as necessary or as requested.
- Contribute to Communitech’s program development by collaborating with the program services team using insights, knowledge and analysis of the market.

**Requirements**:

- Track record of success leading business development opportunities in a not-for-profit or public sector environment
- Experience with creating sellable products for events and for multiple/diverse programs
- Strong detail and process orientation - can manage multiple competing priorities and customers with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver results
- Outstanding relationship and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills - can develop and deliver an impactful presentation across all levels of an organization
- Strong knowledge of sales funnels
- Experience working with Salesforce
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time to key partner locations
- Excellent team-centric collaboration skills
