We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Community Engagement and Knowledge Mobilization Specialist in the area of Hereditary Cancer Risk. This is a hybrid contract position located in Vancouver, BC, with flexibility for some remote work taking place over the next 6 months, commencing as soon as possible. The specialist will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and facilitating a minimum of three (3) conversation-based dinner events for young adults in the Jewish community to learn about hereditary cancer risk. In addition to facilitating these events, the specialist will play a key role in engaging the community and mobilizing knowledge from research and community insights to inform program development, educational materials, and outreach strategies.

The Community Engagement and Knowledge Mobilization Specialist will create a safe and engaging space for participants to share personal stories, ask questions to peers, and discuss personal health decision-making. They will also work closely with BRCAinBC team members, community stakeholders, and researchers to ensure that the latest scientific findings and community perspectives are integrated into the program's content and delivery. They will also be responsible for supporting the delivery of public campaigns, health messaging materials and other knowledge mobilization tools, as needed.

Qualifications:

- Experience in event planning, ideally in a health or community setting.
- Experience in developing health education materials and messaging.
- Excellent communication, networking skills, and ability to build and maintain relationships with team members, event partners, and participants.
- Experience in organizing educational events and workshops that require engagement, collaboration, and pairing young adults in a learning conversational environment.
- Excellent group facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of hereditary cancer risk, basic genetics, and health promotion is an asset.
- Interest in working with the Jewish community and experience working with Jewish organizations is an asset.
- Knowledge of basic event evaluation metrics and collection tools.
- Possession of a Bachelor degree in public health, health communications, health education, health promotion or another related field.
- A Masters degree in a related field is an asset.
- Professionalism and ability to work in a team-based, culturally-sensitive, and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management skills, including the ability to adhere to deadlines.
- Ability to support and manage volunteers.
- Availability and flexibility during the workweek, including evenings and weekends as needed; must have access to reliable personal transportation as this role requires travel.

Remuneration: This is a 6-month contract-based role with a registered not-for-profit organization, with the possibility for extension. Remuneration for this role is $60 + GST for hours spent on-site facilitating events and $33 + GST for remote hours assisting in coordination, planning events, engaging in team meetings, and knowledge mobilization activities. The role is 0.5FTE and you can expect to plan, coordinate, and attend a minimum of three (3) Dinner and Dialogue events as part of this contract.

**Salary**: $33.00-$60.00 per hour
