Are you passionate about shaping the academic journey of future leaders? We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated **Academic Advisor** to join our team in the Faculty of Arts. As an integral part of our team, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting undergraduate students through their academic endeavors.
**What You’ll Do**:
- **Academic Advising**: Advise students to ensure their course and program selections align with established academic, prerequisite, and graduation requirements, facilitating informed decision-making.
- **Customized Student Strategies**: Develop tailored strategies to assist students who may not meet academic eligibility criteria to continue in their program, fostering their success through personalized approaches.
- **Academic Records Evaluation**: Perform formal reviews and assessments of both prospective and current students’ academic records. This includes ensuring eligibility for program continuation, facilitating course registration, and addressing issues with registration or graduation.
- **Recruitment and Retention Initiatives**: Assist in coordinating and executing a variety of activities in the Arts Student Office, as well as helping coordinate recruitment events.
- **Committee Consultation**: Collaborate and provide consultation, as needed, with a variety of committees within the Faculty of Arts.

Position Requirements
**What You’ll Bring to this Position**:
- A four-year University degree; and
- Minimum of three to five years of related experience in a post-secondary environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role**:
- Working knowledge of the organization, operation, and registration procedures.
- Knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and programs within the Faculty of Arts and the University of Regina.
- Knowledge of the diverse student population in the Faculty of Arts.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with various staff and faculty members in the Faculty of Arts, as well as Federated and Regional Colleges.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing software, a student information system, as well as document management systems, and workflow technology.
- Ability to understand and interpret complex data databases and other software systems.
- Experience in the development of operational plans and a strong interest in developing a long term strategy and goals for the retention of students in the Faculty of Arts.
- Ability to define, analyze, evaluate, and interpret information.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while providing attention to a high level of accuracy and detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to customer service, with the ability to develop collaborative relationships.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
