The Government Relations Advisor is responsible for advancing the University of Regina’s profile and vision while building strategic relationships with government officials, community partners and other public sector institutions. The work of the Government Relations Advisor is essential to the University’s academic mission and includes promoting the relevance of its research, teaching and service.
**What You’ll Do**:
- Provide senior counsel to the Executive and leadership team
- Coordinate the University’s response to a wide range of political and policy issues, including direct advocacy, stakeholder engagement, strategy development, issues and reputation management
- Work to develop, coordinate, and implement focused government relations efforts based on institutional priorities
- First point of contact for government officials wishing to engage with the University of Regina.

Position Requirements
**What You’ll Bring to this Position**:
- University degree in a relevant field of study
- A seasoned professional with experience in a governmental/public affairs role, with a deep background developing and executing public affairs and institutional reputation programs, including advocacy and executive communications. Combination of education and experience may be considered.
**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role**:
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex political and policy issues across a broad range of public policy areas.
- Extensive knowledge of political, legislative and regulatory processes, as well as government policies and procedures
- Collaborative team player comfortable leading as well as executing and taking constructive input from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, propose, triage, analyze, respond, and report on legislation and regulation consequential to the University.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively advocate for institutional needs to elected and appointed officials, stakeholders, and the public.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal guidelines, legislative procedures, and budget/fiscal processes.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Demands Pay Grade OOS 8 Salary Range $97,492 - $146,233 Status Permanent Work Hours
Monday - Friday 8:15-4:30
Some evenings and weekends may occasionally be required
Some travel may be required
