Ace Hotel Toronto is our first-ever spot in Canada, built from the ground up in the heart of the Fashion District, near St. Andrew’s Playground Park. Our civic hub here is animated by a legacy of homegrown magic, spurred by ingenious types with off-the-wall ideas who’ve long made the multicultural mosaic of this city their home — from Queen West and Chinatown to the famed Horseshoe Tavern and on down to the shimmering shores of Lake Ontario.
**SUMMARY**
Our Catering Sales Manager is responsible for the solicitation and development of new events and catering business for the hotel. They coordinate contracts and liaise with the events team for client functions and offers superior customer service. Specific focus on wedding contracting and local corporate & social catering accounts, requiring event coordination, detailing and execution.
**CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Solicit and contract new business opportunities with consistent business development tactics.
- Implement a targeted and direct strategic plan to penetrate specific markets within territory.
- Conduct creative site inspections.
- Respond to inquiries and creative proposals in a timely manner, using superb time management skills and effective communication with customers and coworkers.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation.
- Promote positive relations with guests and employees.
- Maintain and promote a constructive and productive working environment between the events team and hotel.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of the competition’s product.
- Maintain a complete and accurate file base in our electronic system, including but not limited to event status (prospect, tentative, definite and turned down).
- Work with events and outlet teams to ensure that they are working on one unified calendar to eliminate the risk of double bookings.
- Make outside sales calls and handle incoming inquiries.
- Create action plans on a quarterly basis or as requested by the supervisor.
- Attend Resume, BEO, and other meetings as required.
- Ensure financial success of the hotel by overseeing that all catering events are profitable for the entire hotel.
- Work with the sales and events teams on space release and free sell policies to ensure we are maximizing space for fullest profitability.
- Solicit new and existing clients to meet revenue goals. This will consist of telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
- Achieve assigned quarterly financial goals in catering, and room rental.
- Positively contribute the achievement of overall hotel goals in revenue.
- Ensure all information is detailed, correct and all billing arrangements are specified.
- Be on property as needed while events are being executed to ensure client needs and requests are adhered to.
- Create BEOs, Resumes, etc. for all catering and group business.
- Responsible for assisting in all phases of the sales process including lead generation, executing signed contracts, client changes, guarantees, set-ups, bill collection, payment confirmation, and rebooking.
- Fill out amenities forms and amenity cards for social groups and weddings and ensure delivery information is communicated to appropriate departments
- Create personalized menus for groups and private dinners in the restaurant, directional signage for incoming groups and to place around hotel, table numbers, name tents, buffet cards, etc.
- Provide additional support to group sales, catering sales, outlet sales, event servicing and other departments as directed.
**SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS**
- Constantly communicate with all other department heads both verbally and in written form.
- Be on property as needed while events are being executed to ensure client needs and requests are adhered to.
- Perform special projects or assignments based on guest’s needs or market demands.
