The Ballad team is a growing and agile organization, with experience working with Indigenous organizations, academic institutions, communities, municipalities, Industry, and public sector organizations. We take pride in building lasting and collaborative relationships with our clients across Canada.
Our training programs have built capacity in diverse areas including entrepreneurship, insurance, information and computer technology, construction, French language acquisition, hospitality, supply chain management, and more. We have delivered unique training programs for a variety of organizations, Indigenous Communities and on behalf of the Ministry of Labour & Immigration and Ministry of Community & Social Services and Employment and Social Development Canada.
The Municipal Economic Development Consultant position is an in-person role located out of our Edmonton Office.
**Key Responsibilities**
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their economic development goals and challenges.
- Work with municipalities and districts to help them develop tailored comprehensive economic development strategies and action plans to attract new business investment and retain and grow existing businesses
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth research on economic trends, market opportunities, and industry sectors.
- Analyze data and gather insights to inform strategic yet practical decision-making.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on research findings.
- Work closely with businesses to understand their needs and challenges.
- Provide expert guidance on business development initiatives.
- Assist in the identification of funding opportunities and grants.
Community Engagement:
- Engage with community stakeholders, businesses, and residents to gather feedback and insights.
- Organize and facilitate public consultations and workshops as required.
- Build strong relationships with communities to foster collaboration and support.
Business Development:
- Connect with stakeholders in the Economic Development sector to foster positive relationships and promote and build Ballad as a leading consulting services provider
- You need to enjoy engaging with, speaking to, and fostering positive relationships with partners, stakeholders and other levels of government.
Education and Membership:
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in economic development.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the** Economic Developers Alberta (EDA) is considered an asset.**
**Experience**:
- A post-secondary education in an economic development, business, or related field.
- Master’s is considered an asset
- 5+ years experience in strategic planning, research, and analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write comprehensive reports and RFP responses.
- Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with economic modelling tools.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
