Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Policy Consultant to join our team at the Government of Alberta. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact projects that shape Alberta's strategic policy direction.

Job Responsibilities
  • Fiscal and policy analysis on a wide range of policy-related issues, including short- and long-term fiscal projections and risks, interprovincial comparisons, and forecasting various program areas such as education, health, environment, and social services.
  • Measure the performance of policies supported by programs from multiple ministries, providing expertise and insight on questions and outcomes being assessed.
  • Support participation in cross-ministry initiatives in various subject areas, including social, economic, and environmental policy, and provincial-municipal fiscal matters.
  • Contribute to the development of Alberta's negotiation strategy on federal-provincial issues through research, analysis, and advice.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with counterparts within the Economics and Fiscal Policy Division, the Ministry, and across ministries on matters relating to policy analysis.
  • Support the development of budget chapters and fiscal updates by carrying out analysis, preparing briefing materials, and drafting sections and chapters of the budget documents.
Key Qualifications

A university graduation in the social sciences, including training in economics, statistics, and research methods or a related field is required. A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible related experience, preferably in economic analysis or policy development, is also required.

Salary and Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of $71,967 - $94,068 per annum, based on a 36.25-hour workweek. The Government of Alberta provides a comprehensive benefits package, including pension, health, and dental coverage.
