The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Municipal Operations and Development to lead our organization. As the most senior executive, you will be responsible for enacting Council's vision and direction, overseeing municipal operations, and driving economic development in our region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Council Advice and Support: Attend Council meetings, advise on relevant matters, and stay informed about governmental and community affairs.
  • Leadership & Management: Direct the overall planning, coordination, and control of municipal operations, ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines.
  • People Leadership: Direct and manage all personnel, establish employment policies, and oversee employee performance.
  • Stakeholder, Public Relations, Boards and Committees: Liaise with external representatives, coordinate public requests, and respond to emergencies.
  • Financial Management: Direct budget preparation, execute financial controls, and authorize payments within established guidelines.
  • Economic Development and Tourism: Champion investment and recreation initiatives, oversee planning and promotions, and explore partnerships.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education: Degree, diploma, or certificate.
  • Leadership experience: 10+ years in a leadership role within a mid-size or larger public or private organization.
  • Executive level experience: At least 5 years in an executive position within an organization.
  • Municipal experience: Prior leadership experience in a municipal setting or equivalent combination from another sector.
What We Offer

An estimated annual salary of $125,000-$175,000 based on your qualifications and experience. This compensation package reflects the significance of this role in driving the growth and development of Sturgeon County.
