The Economic Development Specialist delivers programs and services that advance Business Friendly Edmonton and supports local businesses to grow and invest in Edmonton. Specifically, this position will lead the development and implementation of initiatives that foster an inclusive local economy. They will help businesses navigate regulatory requirements, grants programs, and other services provided by the City of Edmonton, and identify referrals to additional business support services.

Guided by the Economic Action Plan, the Economic Development Specialist will lead public education programs and service delivery improvements, using an equity lens, to support a vibrant and prosperous business community and further our City’s reputation as business friendly. Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve results in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded way.

- Deliver One-one-one Business Support Service to support business launch and growth, and to foster local economic development
- Lead engagement in the economic development ecosystem with organizations supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs and generate client referrals
- Contribute to the development of annual work plans with identified resources for capacity and effectiveness while tracking and achieving. performance targets, program outcomes and deliverables on time and on budget
- Develop and enhance internal and external partnerships, professional services agreements, memorandum of understanding, etc
- Maintain collaborative partnerships and effective communication with key stakeholders including local and recently-landed businesses, business improvement areas, economic development partners, and other levels of government
- Prepare and conduct presentations to internal and external audiences, including developing customized equity-informed content to meet the objectives of partner organizations
- Perform other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- University degree in Business Administration, Urban and/or Regional Planning, Economic Development, Arts, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Public engagement/participation certificate is an asset
- Adult education training is an asset
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training, GBA+ training
- Detailed knowledge of policy development and practices and their potential impact on local businesses
- Knowledge of Edmonton and Alberta's economic, cultural and political environment
- Demonstrated ability to respond flexibly to demands and expedite tasks and assignments
- Proven ambitious and resourceful research skills that demonstrate the ability to screen information and distil vital and relevant data to formulate strategy, policy and actions
- Proven ability to excel in the context of a highly performing team with ambitious timelines
- Demonstrated acute and effective responses to political and executive requirements, to anticipate needs and expectations in a manner that allows issues to be proactively addressed
- Ability to simplify complex information into an understandable and usable format
- Strong relationship development and collaboration skills

**_ Up to 1 permanent full-time position available_**

**Hours of Work**: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

**Salary**: $45.846 - $ 57.931 (Hourly), $80,769.190- $102,059.940 (Annually)
