**Economic Reconciliation Manager**

**Location**: Métis Nation of Alberta Provincial Office, 11738 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, AB

**Position Status**: Permanent Full-Time (40 hrs per week)

**Key Responsibilities**
- Research and assess previous and ongoing economic development projects.
- Pursue potential economic reconciliation opportunities that result from natural resource extraction, industrial development, and infrastructure expansion in Alberta.
- Build relationships with Elders and Knowledge Holders.
- Become familiar with the Crown Consultation process.
- Review and develop economic policies.
- Advocate on behalf of Métis Citizens to meet their needs.
- Establish meaningful partnerships with industry experts and external stakeholders.
- Identify economic barriers for Métis citizens and business owners and develop policies and programs to address these challenges.
- Coordinate and facilitate information gathering, research, resource management and other actions undertaken at the subregional scale to address identified economic issues.
- Establish, coordinate, and facilitate meetings and community engagements, including preparation of briefs and communication materials for use by the Métis Nation of Alberta.
- Identify opportunities for capacity building for the MNA, MNA Citizens, and Métis Business owners, and assist in facilitating their implementation, including identifying relevant funding, partnering, and collaboration opportunities.
- Participate in meetings, both internally and externally.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the capacity of the MNA to pursue and respond to economic reconciliation opportunities including the hiring and management of additional economic reconciliation staff.
- Mentor team members through feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations as required.
- Additional duties as required or assigned.

**Skills & Competencies**
- Knowledge of current and historical theories, laws, and policies in relation to Indigenous involvement in economic development.
- Understanding of principles and trends within the economic development industry.
- Exceptional strategic planning skills, with an ability to establish plans to meet key objectives of projects/initiatives.
- Culturally sensitive and compassionate with an ability to engage with community members in diverse settings.
- Exercise discretion in handling confidential and politically sensitive information. Strong political sensitivity.
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including business owners, partners, MNA citizens, and elected officials.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to deal with a wide range of individuals tactfully and diplomatically and produce professional documents.
- Demonstrated ability to speak publicly and deliver presentations to a range of audiences.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
- Strong computer skills with aptitude for using new software.
- Ability to remain organized, multi-task, and manage time effectively under tight and competing deadlines.
- Experience managing budgets, creating work plans, writing reports, and preparing funding proposals.
- Proven ability to listen, interpret and convey positions appropriately.
- Recognized strength in leading and engaging teams and creating a culture that promotes development of individual and organizational capacity.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and be adaptable and flexible to changing priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle tense and stressful situations.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and economic reconciliation issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture is an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree in a related field required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a management role required.
- Knowledge and experience in Métis rights, history, culture, and people.

**Other Requirements**
- Some travel within Alberta is a requirement. Additional, less frequent, out-of-province travel may also occur, with notice.
- Must have a driver’s license and an operational vehicle.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends if needed.
