- An exciting opportunity exists for a Team Lead, Community Research Projects supporting the Community Strategies Business Unit. In this role, you will focus on projects, including the Disaggregated Data, Community Research, and Equity related projects. You will be responsible for delivering research and planning expertise, projects, and services to support operational and community-led strategies and major corporate initiatives. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to mobilize project plans and provide strategic planning support to the business unit. Primary duties include:

- Advise on and review research and evaluation reports prior to publication, prepare memos or briefing notes for Council or the Executive Leadership Team. Present findings to diverse external parties.
- Conduct, write, and disseminate primary and secondary research reports that inform public policy and council decisions.
- Oversee a team of research professionals, including hiring, budgeting, staff development, and performance management.
- Provide a community research lens and lead research projects, which address complex issues.
- Serve as a strategic and research representative for the business unit/department to external committees and partnerships, while fostering strategic research relationships.

**Qualifications**
- A master's degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Sociology, Urban Planning or a related field and at least 7 years' experience in research, strategy, program evaluation, policy development, performance measurement, and analytics, preferably in a public service environment.
- Formal or informal leadership experience and/or strategic consulting skills would also be an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in statistical software such as Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Statistical Analysis System (SAS), or R is preferred.
- Experience with qualitative research tools and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) would be an asset.
- Previous experience with business/strategic planning, project management, and measurement reporting are essential.
- Knowledge of municipal government structures and the not-for-profit sector, with the ability to negotiate and manage partnerships.
- Success in this role requires the following competencies: critical thinking, strong communication skills, report writing, decision-making, leadership, and political acumen.
