Research Project Team Lead, Social Work

**Description**
The Research Project Team Lead (RPTL) will report to the Principal Investigator (PI) on the Inuit Perinatal Health project to explore cultural/linguistically relevant support with Inuit women during the perinatal period and co-develop and evaluate a perinatal program with Inuit women in Arviat, Nunavut. Job stressors are moderate and the RPTL must be able to organize and prioritize multiple project outcomes independently with mínimal supervision and direction to meet deadlines and competing priorities. Evenings and weekend work may be required on occasion and travel may be required.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Coordination, organization, administration, and staging activities of research project with research team members.
- Liaise with internal and external team members to move work forward and recommending improvements.
- Supports priorities of the team on a broad spectrum of projects and tasks including overseeing project coordination across multiple sites and partnerships.
- Provides efficient, effective and comprehensive administrative support to the team.
- Community point person for research trip coordination including booking travel and site meeting logistics.
- Creation of expense claims, invoices, and reconciliation of expenses.
- Track expenses and other project related expenses.
- Coordinate and complete research assistant hires documentation and submit appropriate paperwork.
- Create, distribute agenda, and capture minutes at meetings.
- Provide project management, leadership, and guidance for the team's initiatives.
- Manages own time effectively and inform Principal Investigator of activities and progress of work.
- Advise PI, research coordinator, and research assistants regarding selection of appropriate research measures.
- Carry out study protocol including administering qualitative interviews, focus groups, and questionnaires.
- Compile study data and oversee data entry into electronic project database.
- Maintain adequate records and organized data files following FOIP regulations.
- Development of manuscripts, reports and grant proposals relevant to the project including literature searches, and editing.
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Human Development, Public Health or a related degree
- Experience in an organization related to a health-related discipline.
- 4 years research project management and coordinating research programs or projects.
- 3 years experience with qualitative interview and qualitative data analysis.
- Understanding and experience related to Perinatal health.
- Knowledge of community-based research, preference given to those with experience living/working/researching in Arctic Canada.
- Knowledge in research methods and recruitment of participants particularly within Indigenous communities.
- Detailed oriented, highly independent and able to take initiative.
- Plan and direct research and administrative activities within a team environment.
- Provide support to other members of the team and related units or teams.
- Ability to solve complex problems related to data management.
- Train and guide research assistants.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), additional skills in Creative Cloud.
- Experience with Qualtrics, SPSS, and NVivo (or Dedoose).
- Knowledge of UCalgary systems, departments, and processes.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills.
- Ability to be highly productive, meet short deadlines, and respond to quick turnaround.
- In-depth knowledge of research ethics and regulations for granting agencies (e.g. Tri Council), specifically Chapter 9 TCPS, OCAP and CARE principles.
- Demonstrated ability in professional writing, preparing reports, and conducting literature reviews for the purpose of presentation and publication.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven good driving record (abstract required). Open to learning and develop and will be willing to accept new challenges and assignments.
