**Description**

The **Haskayne School of Business** is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term **Specialist, Graduate Programs**for approximately 12 months.

The Haskayne School of Business has approximately 4,000 full
- and part-time students enrolled in bachelor's, master's, doctorate, and executive education programs. The school boasts over 25,000 alumni in more than 60 countries. The vision of the Haskayne School of Business is to be an internationally recognized Centre of excellence for business education, research, and community outreach, with a special emphasis on the distinct elements that define Calgary and Alberta: energy, entrepreneurship, and ethical leadership. Graduate Professional Programs currently includes the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in a range of formats (Accelerated, Fulltime, Evening, Executive) to meet the diverse needs of our students, Master of Management (MMgmt), and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

Haskayne is growing its graduate programs and is looking for opportunities where it can provide unique offerings. This position is tasked with facilitating further growth by supporting all existing academic aspects of Haskayne's professional graduate programs operations and supporting all aspects of program development of new professional graduate credentials, while utilizing exceptional project management and communication skills.

The nature of this position is to provide support of effective academic program delivery of all graduate professional programs, and to provide support in the assessment of Haskayne's graduate programs and the approval process for curriculum and program changes. This is a complex responsibility requiring broad knowledge of university processes associated with program approvals and standards. This position reports to the Manager, Professional Graduate Programs and works with all members of the Professional Graduate Programs team.

Stressors include dealing with the demands of multiple project initiation and implementation, sensitivity of multiple simultaneous deadlines as well as ensuring that communication with multiple stakeholders is always professional and productive regardless of external and internal pressures. This position requires high-level, discretionary decision-making.

Due to the operational requirements of this position, the incumbent is expected to work predominantly in-office. This position is a one-year Limited Term, Full-Time position. The primary hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, 7 hours per day (35 hours per week); however, there may be a demand to work outside of these hours. The Specialist, Graduate Programs is part of the AUPE Collective Bargaining Unit.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):

- Support the development and writing of new graduate professional program proposals for approval by the University of Calgary and the Ministry of Education.
- Establish deadlines and priorities for the proposal development.
- Undertake research and analysis to support the program proposal requirements, including inventory of similar programs offered at other institutions, labour market analysis, survey of stakeholder support, etc.
- Prepare and edit successive versions of proposals as they move through the approvals process.
- Keep informed of competing programs, and best-of-class programs to identify new trends in graduate programming.
- Support the design and implementation of new graduate programs as they are approved.
- Keep up-to-date and accurate records as needed.
- Consult and support Academic Directors and Graduate Program Committees on development activities to improve the quality of the academic programs and their delivery.

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in communications or business.
- 3-5 year's experience in a related capacity.
- Prior experience in a post-secondary environment (asset).
- Excellent written (writing, editing and proofreading) and verbal communication skills for both internal and external audiences.
- Strong critical thinking, judgement and decision-making skills (required).
- Excellent record keeping skills with keen attention to detail and focus on accuracy (required).
- Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to manage own time effectively and anticipate needs for upcoming processes.
- Must have a high level of tact and professionalism as well as a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and productively as part of a team are critical to success.
- Must be open to learning and development and be willing to accept new challenges and assignments.
- Proven ability to use discretion with confidential material. Understands and maintains confidentiality demonstrating diplomacy and good judgment.
