**Position Overview**
The **Haskayne School of Business** is currently seeking a Full-time Regular **Student Engagement Specialist**.
The Haskayne School of Business (HSB) has more than 4000 full
- and part-time students currently enrolled in bachelor's, master's, PhD programs and over 1000 Executive Education participants. The School has nearly 28,000 alumni in 96 countries. The Haskayne School of Business offers a full range of degree programs including: Bachelor of Commerce; Master of Management (MMgmt); Master of Business Administration (MBA); Executive MBA; the interdisciplinary Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Development; a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA); and a PhD. The School also offers executive education courses, a Diploma in Data Science and Analytics (with the Faculty of Science) and embedded and graduate certificates.
Stressors range from moderate to high. Requires high-level discretionary decision-making as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines and deal with constant interruptions daily. Incumbent works with limited direction and sets own priorities and deadlines ensuring all deadlines are met or negotiated as required. The position involves constant multi-tasking and weighing of situations with full understanding of the impact of decisions. The position must demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable dealing with diverse constituents including students, faculty, and staff. As well, there is considerable liaising with student advisors from other faculties, departments, and student resource units. Extreme discretion must be exercised, and good judgment followed. There is a high need for attention to detail.
The Student Engagement Specialist provides student affairs expertise related to programs that enhance student life, student recognition, engagement, satisfaction, and retention through connection throughout their degree program to graduation.
As a member of team, Student Engagement Specialist reports to the Manager, Career & Life Design. This position normally works Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M, 7 hours per day (35 hours per week). Due to constantly shifting priorities, evening and weekend extra hours and flexibility maybe required.
**Position Description**
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Responsible for building relationships, advising, and providing students support with:
- involvement and engagement
- strengths discovery and professional accountability and conduct
- fostering academic excellence and leadership inside and outside of the classroom
- handling nonroutine issues (both personal and professional)
- Identify opportunities of leadership and personal growth for students as well as directing students to campus services when required
- Mentor, coach, and assist individual and groups of students in their overall personal and professional growth
- Research and evaluate domestic and international case competition opportunities for students that the school could attend or host
- Assisting the faculty lead on organizing and facilitating case competitions
- Participate in committee or work groups and provide recommendations to support student experience initiatives
- Collaborate with the rest of the Student Services team, including recruitment and admissions to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and a seamless student experience
- Design, administer and analyze student experience surveys. Establish survey structure, format and process according to best practices to ensure reliability and completeness of results and complying with rules and guidelines
- Support and act as back up to the Student Experience Advisor
- Supports the Haskayne student engagement events from admission through to graduation
- Approve/Deny student club events based upon faculty priorities and processes, student preparedness and resources available
- Manage the student club event database; coordinate the event approval process that involves events, alumni, career and marketing, risk management and student's union
- Train student club executives on fundraising, sponsorship, CPPs and invoicing
- Annual clubs transitioning meetings
- Chair the Student Club events working group consisting of various Haskayne stakeholders
- Advise/mentor students with the organization of studentled initiatives to enhance the undergraduate and graduate student experience (Events, Communications, Leadership, Governance)
- Advise/communicate possible funding opportunities for student engagement activities and assist with student enquiries regarding such
- Room and table bookings for student organizations
- Facilitate any surveys/online elections/awards selection as required with student leaders (such as Faculty/Staff Awards)
- Ensure student representation on faculty committees requiring/requesting such
- Liaise with external stakeholders to help facilitate Faculty, Staff and Student communications
